In Buenos Aires, in the Mataderos neighborhood, a mural in homage to Wanda Taddei, the woman murdered by the former drummer of Callejeros, Eduardo Vázquez, in February 2010, will be inaugurated this Friday. The victim's family will continue to demand that the femicide not be granted temporary leave. The victim's father, Jorge Taddei, spoke with the Argentine News Agency and confirmed that the event will take place at 6:30 PM at the home on Directorio and Araujo: We have done very good work because women's groups from different unions and organizations from all over the country will participate. We need a significant turnout at this time when there is an increase in femicides and the possible temporary release of Vázquez, states the call from Jorge and his wife Beatriz. In this regard, the 84-year-old man indicated that emails were sent to the Criminal Execution Court No. 3 judge, Axel López, about the mobilization with the aim of not granting the benefit to the murderer. Vázquez is on a one-year Probation Period after the magistrate denied his request in 2021, 2023, and 2024. According to Article 15 of Law 24.660, the probation period will consist of the systematic use of self-government methods and will include, among other things, the possibility of obtaining temporary releases from the establishment. To enter the probation period, it is necessary to meet these requirements: the proposal to enter it must come from the result of the observation period and treatment verification; to have served a minimum of half the sentence, fifteen years for life sentences; to have no open cases or other pending convictions; and to have exemplary conduct and reputation. The femicide On February 10, 2010, the victim and the aggressor were in their home, where they argued and the musician used a lighter to cause severe burns to the young woman. Wanda was taken by her partner to the Santojanni Hospital, but due to the extent of her injuries, she was transferred to the burns sanatorium, where she died after remaining hospitalized for eleven days. In June 2012, the Oral Court in Criminal Matters No. 20 of the Federal Capital sentenced Vázquez to 18 years in prison for the crime of qualified homicide due to the relationship, mitigated by having been committed in a state of violent emotion. This sentence was unified with the penalties for the Cromañón tragedy, which occurred on December 30, 2004, and for possessing marijuana plants. On September 18, 2013, after the appeal by the plaintiffs and the review of the ruling, the Court of Cassation dismissed the existence of that mitigating factor and aggravated the sentence to life imprisonment.
